Centuries of sand storms have transformed medieval Japan into a dangerous, inhospitable desert. A small convoy embarks on a pilgrimage, escorting the princess to the home of her ancestors.
Inspired by the towns tucked into the canyons in Yemen, I wanted to give medieval Japan a similar treatment. It was also an opportunity to try different workflows. Oculus medium was used to build the rock base- I think Oculus medium is great for quickly building rough scenes and playing with the scale. The scene was then populated using the Edo Japan kitbash set. Textured with Quixel megascans. Characters were created using Gravity sketch on the oculus.
